Everyday I get the same question from people still trying to sell keywords as a feature to help your website get found in Google, “How many and what keywords should I use?”
My answer, “You shouldn’t worry about it at all.”
See, Google does not use keywords, or any other meta tags for the purpose of your ranking or position in the search engine. As the following video will show, they may use the Meta Description for the snippet, but not for ranking. Here is the link directly to their site explaining it: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html
See the video below from Google. It will explain it all.
So there you have it. Write good content for your website, and you’ll have great built in keywords for your search results.
There are many other tools we use for SEO, but keywords in your meta header is not one of them. So, don’t be fooled by people trying to sell you on keyword SEO. They are either are not keeping up with the industry, are uninformed, or are being deceitful.
