All of us want to grow the number of people who “Like” our Facebook pages. There are numerous ways of doing this. However, having a large number of people who “Like” your page do not necessarily equal good engagement with your fans or a return on your investment and time.

A company I recently met shared, “We currently have 100 people who Like us, our goal is to get to 5,000. Please follow us on Facebook.”

Now that sounds good, but was there any qualification? What was the incentive? Who would following them help?

My philosophy is I would rather have 100 people who are influencers following us than 5,000 who really don’t care. When we strategically have people who believe in us and we believe in them, and our services, and products, they are much more willing to share and engage us.

Lets be honest, some fans are just worth more than others. So, what are some ways we can modify our Facebook Like marketing tactics.

First, be sure to put your Facebook page link on all printed and web materials (i.e. www.facebook.com/texstarweb). If you’ve given out a business card to an interested prospect, or any other printed materials, the folks who are interested will check out your page. Don’t ignore basic things. Treat your Like page just like you would your email address or phone number.

Targeted Outreach

Offer limited giveaways, promotions, and availability offers. Those are great ways to help gain Facebook Like followers. However, keep in mind they may not necessarily attract who want to reach. Nonetheless, it’s a great tool to consider.

Influencers

Every business has a core group of people who are what I call influencers. Influencers are a small group of people who have great networks. If they are excited about your company and believe in what you are doing, ask them to share your message with their online network.

Your goal long-term is to acquire raving fans. How will you do that?

If you have some ideas, or have implemented some other ways to reach your influencers that have worked, please share with us in the comments section below.
